What is psychosomatic health? You have probably heard of psychosomatic illness, a disorder that is emotional or mental in origin but has physical symptoms. Contrary to popular belief, psychosomatic illnesses are not imaginary. They are physical ailments that are largely triggered and sustained by your emotions and thought patterns *. Psychosomatic health, on the other hand, is the ultimate state of harmonious communication of body and mind in which thoughts and emotions are allies in achieving optimal physical and mental health. My method of therapy emphasizes a holistic approach. With you as my client, we explore the thoughts and emotions as they manifest in your body and mind. In my work, I draw from psychodynamic, gestalt, and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy modalities while introducing into the sessions such yogic techniques as asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, and deep relaxation. I help you achieve a greater psychosomatic health through attaining a greater awareness of how your body and mind interact and how these interactions affect your well-being.
